Soil Nematode Communities in Managed and Natural Temperate Forest
نویسندگان
چکیده
Forest management and the stand age play key roles in determining composition of soil biota, including nematodes. We analysed effect interaction between stands natural forest influenced by human activity on nematode communities, necessary for realistically assessing specific potentials soils, plant protection, management, land use management. Nematode communities were evaluated compared managed beech spruce forests three classes (0–20, 40–60, 100–120 years old) an unmanaged old-growth temperate forest. A total 51 genera found forests. The number was highest (46) European forests, dominated Rhabditis Filenchus. In contrast, lowest (37) a Norway forest, but where abundance due mostly to high bacterivorous nematodes such as Acrobeloides, Plectus, Rhabditis. had biomass herbivorous order Tylenchida, especially Filenchus, Malenchus, Paratylenchus, identified predators. genera, abundance, biomass, diversity index young 0–20-year-old stands, 100–120-year-old stands. Enrichment, structure, basal indices both ages

Soil Microbial Communities in Natural and Managed Cloud Montane Forests
Forest management often results in changes in soil microbial communities. To understand how forest management can change microbial communities, we studied soil microbial abundance and community structure in a natural Chamaecyparis (NCP) forest, a disturbed Chamaecyparis (DCP) forest, a secondary (regenerated) Chamaecyparis (SCP) forest and a secondary (reforested) Cryptomeria (SCD) forest. We a...
متن کاملSoil Nematode Responses to Increases in Nitrogen Deposition and Precipitation in a Temperate Forest
The environmental changes arising from nitrogen (N) deposition and precipitation influence soil ecological processes in forest ecosystems. However, the corresponding effects of environmental changes on soil biota are poorly known. Soil nematodes are the important bioindicator of soil environmental change, and their responses play a key role in the feedbacks of terrestrial ecosystems to climate ...
متن کاملLong-term forest soil warming alters microbial communities in temperate forest soils
Soil microbes are major drivers of soil carbon cycling, yet we lack an understanding of how climate warming will affect microbial communities. Three ongoing field studies at the Harvard Forest Long-term Ecological Research (LTER) site (Petersham, MA) have warmed soils 5°C above ambient temperatures for 5, 8, and 20 years. We used this chronosequence to test the hypothesis that soil microbial co...
متن کاملNematode communities in organically and conventionally managed agricultural soils.
Interpretation of nematode community indices requires a reference to a relatively undisturbed community. Maturity and trophic diversity index values were compared for five pairs of certified organically and conventionally managed soils in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. Available nitrogen (nitrate, ammonium) was estimated at various lag periods relative to times of sampling for nematode ...
متن کاملFire effects on temperate forest soil C and N storage.
Temperate forest soils store globally significant amounts of carbon (C) and nitrogen (N). Understanding how soil pools of these two elements change in response to disturbance and management is critical to maintaining ecosystem services such as forest productivity, greenhouse gas mitigation, and water resource protection. Fire is one of the principal disturbances acting on forest soil C and N st...
